Inspiration & Idea boards

I got the original inspiration picture from a wonderful website that a nestie gave me. www.pointclickhome.com
From there on, I designed an idea board, full of ideas for our future living room. These are all elements, colors and textures that I love and appreciate and want to incorporate into our room. I am not sure which rug yet I like...I am leaning towards the lighter one, but hubs likes the darker one.
Also, nestie brynalexandra's crystal candlesticks are a perfect addition to any coffee table.
I plan on doing idea boards, for every room in our future new home.

I tried to make a healthy yet yummy pasta meal....here goes.

I used Dreamfield Pasta (which is low carb and yummy)

2 cups of white wine

2 cups of Chicken Stock

2 cloves of garlic

pinch of salt & pepper

1 tbsp. of Smart Start soy butter

2 tsps. of bread crumbs.

I let the sauce simmer and then threw in as many or as little shrimp as we wanted and let shrimp cook through.

We then poured the sauce and shrimp over the pasta and added some shaved parmesan cheese.

What a busy weekend

This weekend was one big whirlwind, starting with Friday night!

I am starting my real estate licensing class this coming Monday evening, and I will be working for a real estate agent, as his buyer's agent for the first year. Well Friday evening as I was closing our office, he asked me to start working for him part time even before I have my license. Meeting with his clients, taking photos of homes he is listing, mail campaigns and so the like. He is going to pay me almost double what I am making now. This is great because it is giving the hubs and I extra income and great experience.

Saturday, I spent most of the day at a bowling fundraiser that Dave participated in, and everyone recommended he try out for the Pro Bowling Association. That's what we are working on....so hopefully in 2 years we will be on that route. I then set up my home office and started work for the agent, and created several virtual tours.

Life is going to be quite busy, since I will be working full time, taking my real estate classes and exam, working for this other Realtor, and then eventually quitting my 8:30-5:30 here, and selling real estate full time.

This year is going to be such an experience, and take so much hardwork, but I cannot wait to see where we are in 1 year.

Valentines day..... a day when men are frantically searching every store shelf for left over Valentine's cards and wilted flowers because they waited to long. I kid...I kid.

This year was my first married Valentines...and we are spending a quiet evening at home. My wonderful husband brought me beautiful flowers this morning, and tonight we are making shrimp scampi, and for dessert....chocolate fondue.

Happy Valentines!

Tasting Bland....Never Again

I am trying to find new recipes that pique my interest and keep me satisfied, yet are healthy and help me lose the weight I need to.
Last night as I was driving home I couldn't stop thinking how I didn't want to eat another chicken breast with veggies...I am only 2 weeks into this, I can't feel like this now. Plus chicken with veggies...so BORING.

I came home and scoured the pantry and fridge and came up with such a tasty meal. BBQ Shrimp...it was delightful.

  • I just cooked about 15 jumbo prawns with a 2 tbsps of bbq sauce and a dash of rice vinegar and salt and pepper.

  • Once the prawns were fully cooked I steamed broccoli and cauliflower and poured the shrimp and the leftover sauce over the veggies.

  • Voila....so simple and so filling and yummy.

The beginning of my journey...

Life gives you many opportunities, and if you let them pass you buy who's to say that they will come again? This blog is my way of working through the many changes my life is playing out for me. It's a way to keep me on track, keep me responsible and accountable.

I recently got married, and my husband and married life are wonderful! I truly have married my best friend..so cliche, yet so true. Along with the marriage, came debt...from both of us. So the first major change we are making for our lives is to become "fiscally healthy". It's a hard road, budgets, snowball calculators, Dave Ramsey books... if you have ever tried to get out of debt you know what I mean. It's a hard road, but with many sacrifices we will overcome this obstacle.

My second biggest goal, is not only become fiscally healthy, but physically healthy. I have a goal of 50lbs this year. I am dealing with some health issues that have caused my weight gain, but I will no longer let this get me down. I have to change me...this means eating healthy, working out, and living well. I am already down 5lbs....45lbs...here I come.

Lastly, my career change. I am terrified and excited all at the same time. I am working towards my real estate license, and eventually would love to work as a full time Realtor and set my own schedule. I am fortunate right now to be working for a re-known real estate agency, but I am ready to work for me and answer to myself. I am tired of working under someone else.

2008 is going to be a year that I look back at and say..."wow...that was a emotionally and physically demanding year...but look at who I have become today."
